GREATSCHOOLS’ BILL JACKSON JOINS NATIONAL JOURNAL
EDUCATION EXPERT BLOG PANEL
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – July 8, 2009 – GreatSchools, the national education nonprofit that 35 million people turn to annually to find the right schools and support their children’s education, today announced that its founder and CEO, Bill Jackson, is a contributor to the National Journal’s Education Expert Blog.
The blog, available at http://education.nationaljournal.com, features key education policymakers, thought leaders and experts drawn from government, think tanks, advocacy groups and academia. Contributors include Education Secretary Arne Duncan; two of his predecessors, Margaret Spellings and Rod Paige; Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.); and Representative John Kline (R-Minn.). Other participating organizations include the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the United Negro College Fund and the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation.
“We’re eager to participate in a serious discussion of the most pressing issues in education policy,” says Jackson. “My goal is to reinforce the powerful role parents play in improving education and guiding their kids to success at school.”
The blog will feature a weekly question, usually submitted by the moderator. Education decision-makers and thought leaders will weigh in with their own opinions and respond to one another, leading to compelling debates over key policy questions.
Lisa Caruso, National Journal staff correspondent and moderator of the blog, says, “My goal for the Education Expert Blog is to provide a dynamic online forum for experts of widely differing politics and points of view to engage in a serious debate of the most pressing issues in education policy today. I hope that readers and experts alike are challenged in their thinking and exposed to new ideas that perhaps will even influence the way education policy is made.”
